About Us

The Oberlin Police Department currently has seventeen full-time sworn officers and thirteen civilian employees. The Department additionally has an Auxiliary Police unit and a Police Explorer post. Specialized units include investigations, juvenile, crime prevention, honor guard, drug enforcement, K-9 unit and bicycle patrol. For a small agency, the Oberlin Police Department has excellent technical equipment, vehicles, facilities, and training opportunities.

Mission Statement

The Oberlin Police Department’s mission is to enhance the quality of life in our community through the protection of life and property, fair and unbiased law enforcement, and community partnerships.

If a citizen, at any time, feels a police employee has acted in a manner which is abusive or unprofessional, we urge you to report this matter. Here is a guide to the Citizen Complaint Process. Our goal is to provide quality police service.  Help us attain that goal by reporting improper police conduct. We would appreciate hearing from you when we have provided you with commendable service, too!
